Requirements for CHC, Home Care, and ODP Team Members

All Purpose of Life employees must go through a thorough verification, screening, and training process before providing care. These requirements apply to both our CHC/Home Care team and our ODP team.

Required employee qualifications and screenings include:

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance
  • CNA certificate
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Physical and TB test
  • Required orientation and training
  • Understanding and following the client’s care plan or Individual Support Plan, also known as the ISP
  • Employment verification and screening

All employees are bonded, receive annual evaluations, and attend continuing education and training. Purpose of Life complies with applicable state and federal regulations.

ODP Team and Provider Qualifications

Purpose of Life also provides services through the Office of Developmental Programs. Our ODP team supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, and developmental disabilities.

In addition to the employee requirements listed above, ODP services require staff to meet training, documentation, and service-specific expectations before services are provided. These requirements help ensure that individuals receive safe, respectful, and person-centered support.

Our ODP team may include Direct Support Professionals, supervisors, administrative staff, and Employment Specialists who work together to support each individual’s goals, independence, health, safety, and participation in everyday life.

ODP-related expectations may include:

  • Completion of required ODP orientation and training
  • Following each individual’s approved Individual Support Plan, also known as the ISP
  • Service-specific training based on the approved ODP service
  • Training related to health, safety, rights, dignity, and person-centered support
  • Documentation and reporting responsibilities
  • Communication with supervisors, families, supports coordinators, and team members when appropriate
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Compliance with ODP requirements and applicable waiver standards

ODP Employment Specialist Support

Purpose of Life also provides ODP Employment Specialist services for individuals who want support with employment.

Our Employment Specialists help individuals explore their interests, identify strengths, prepare for work opportunities, build job skills, and maintain employment. The goal is to support independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in the workplace and community.

Employment Specialist support may include:

  • Exploring job interests and goals
  • Building work readiness skills
  • Supporting job search preparation
  • Assisting with workplace expectations
  • Helping individuals maintain employment
  • Encouraging independence and confidence on the job
  • Working with the individual, family, and support team

Training and Continuing Education

Purpose of Life believes that quality care begins with a trained and supported team. Employees receive required orientation, annual training, evaluations, and continuing education based on their role and service area.

Training helps our team provide care that is safe, respectful, professional, and focused on each person’s needs.
